In Glasgow, students engage directly with refugee narratives, migration systems, and human resilience. Through dialogue sessions with displaced individuals, visits to NGOs and community hubs, guided city walks, and reflection workshops, participants develop profound empathy and understanding. This program centers the voices and experiences of those navigating displacement, building cross-cultural awareness rooted in authentic human connection.
Students Will:
• Explore drivers of displacement
• Interpret refugee narratives with empathy and critical thinking
• Analyze the roles of NGOs and governments in integration
• Reflect on concepts of belonging, home, and identity
• Communicate ethically with vulnerable groups
• Develop cross-cultural awareness and dialogue skills
Eligibility:
• Teen Leadership Corps selected juniors or rising seniors
• Interest in geography, human rights, migration, or social justice
• Application + teacher recommendation required
• Passport required
• Student must reside or be a student in Huron or Erie County
